Out of the Box festival is for children 8 years and under, held biennially at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC). Out of the Box is 8 days of cultural activity designed to celebrate and support learning, discovery, curiosity and play for children and their families. This event takes place across the Cultural Precinct, from its hub at QPAC to the State Library of Queensland, Queensland Museum and Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA). “The festival is committed to informing and inspiring babies, children, parents, grandparents, care-givers, clinicians and teachers. Puppet-arium
This hands-on workshop immerses children and their parents/carers into a story world that comes to life - an imaginative wonder-world where hands talk, feet dance and minds are inspired. In this workshop there will be time allocated for stories, puppet making and play. A workshop designed for children and their parents/carers. Tickets are required for all of those attending. Readings By The River
Each day during the Out of the Box Festival, authors, well known personalities and creators will be sharing a selection of their favourite books with children by the river. Located at the Sunday Mail Hangout, Cultural Forecourt QPAC, children can sit by the big red chair to listen, learn and engage with some of Brisbane’s favourite storytellers. Dance Moves
Queensland Ballet, in collaboration with Queensland University of Technology Dance academics and Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) students, has created a unique dance experience suited to children aged 3-8 years. Children will enjoy a range of play-based and creative movement activities, introducing them to dance by engaging their senses, musicality, imagination and curiosity. “Enter the magical forest, explore an interactive environment and discover the enchanting world of ballet, storytelling and mime as told through Little Red Riding Hood and other famous fairytale ballets.
